As a practicing dentist for over 30 years, I have enjoyed the challenge presented each day of working with my staff and meeting the needs of my patients.  I am passionate about providing my patients with the best dental care possible in a friendly, comfortable environment.  What excites me most about my work is the ability to communicate effectively with all my patients and being able to provide them with great results, both functionally and aesthetically, in a painless way.

It gives me satisfaction when patients are happy with the work I provide for them. I appreciate when patients are happy with their results.  I am happy when I can get people out of pain. I am happy when I can change people’s smiles and the way they feel about themselves.  My patients represent many different cultures and nationalities and it gives me great pleasure being able to treat them effectively.  Working with many unique people is stimulating. It provides me with a window into what my community is all about.

Education and Continuing Education

Since graduating from dental school, I have taken many cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, and implant courses in order to provide my patients with the best possible dental care. I am also involved in several professional organizations, including the Ontario Dental Association and the NHL Team Dentist Association as the official team dentist of the Toronto Maple Leafs, of which I am the President Elect and Chair of the Mouthguard Committee.

In the Community

I believe in giving back to my community.  I know that without volunteers our society would not exist in the same way. It is important for me to show my children that giving back is necessary to be productive individuals.

I served on the executive board of Alpha Omega Fraternity and was chair of the dental division for United Jewish Appeal for several years.  I was fundraising chair for Bialik HDS, helping them to raise two million dollars toward their most recent expansion, and have worked on several political campaigns, canvassing door to door with candidates.

Outside the Office

My family means everything to me and they always come first. My wife and practice partner, Dr. Carole Gruson, and I have three children. Our daughter, Stephanie, is 27 years old and is completing her PhD in Bone Physiology at the University of Toronto. Our daughter, Hailey, is 26 years old and is completing her Master’s degree in Immunology at the U of T. Our son, Justin, is 23 years old and has an H. BA from Ivey School of Business and an H. BA in Economics from Western University, and currently works at CIBC as a business analyst.

I am an avid skier, and I play golf and tennis. I love sailing and have been involved in yacht racing in the past. I also like photography and history.
